Red Wine Benefits: A Glass of Red Wine Is Equivalent to an Hour at the Gym

Red wine lovers would be thrilled as new studies emerged that a glass of red wine is equivalent to an hour at the gym.  As per the Huffington Post, researchers from the University of Alberta in Canada made a study on the health benefits of resveratrol, which is a component found in red wine. Resveratrol is also the same component that we get when exercising.

As per the lead researcher, Jason Dyck the findings of the studies will be able to help those who got their schedules wrapped up and to those who are unable to exercise. He then added that Resveratrol, the component found in red wine was able to improve performance, heart function and , muscle strength. These factors can be attained while going to the gym.

"I think resveratrol could help patient populations who want to exercise but are physically incapable, Resveratrol could mimic exercise for them or improve the benefits of the modest amount of exercise that they can do."

Red wine does have numerous benefits and most studies involving the drink are well documented. Though the specific study on red wine and exercise were only done in the lab, which was stated on mice. Moderation is always the key to keep things going.

Another studies in red wine then stated that red wine can indeed burn fats. As per Medical Daily, another study was made by the researchers from the Oregon State's College of Agricultural Studies, in which they focused on the benefits of red wine. They then published their findings in The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry.

In conclusion, the study's co-author, Neil Shay stated:

"The high-fat-fed mice developed fatty liver and diabetic symptoms - the same metabolic consequences we see in many overweight, sedentary people, If we could develop a dietary strategy for reducing the harmful accumulation of fat in the liver using common foods like grapes, that would be good news."
