After months of negotiation, Bartow County will have the much awaited Hunger Games theme park that will be set in Atlanta!
The $750 million project will boast its state-of-the-art rides and attractions.
"This is going to be a first-of-a-kind park," says Avatron Park CEO, Dave Garrett. "It's going to be totally interactive, immersive. It's technology and entertainment. Those are the two critical words that we have to answer correctly each time we look at something."
Reports says that Avatron announced its signed deal with Lions Gate Pictures, that's why it will feature three of its well-known movie franchises that includes, worldwide blockbuster, "The Hunger Games."
"'The Hunger Games' has an enormous following, and anyone that doesn't believe it, just put it in Google," Garrett said.
The park will not stick to traditional theme park rides like carousel and roller coasters. Instead, it will use high-tech technology to create virtual reality environments. According to Garrett, it will be like each guest will be the star of his or her own movie or video game - Simulating what it is like to be inside the video game.
Many businesses seem to have relocated in Georgia so they can ask for tax abatements. But for this project, Avatron refused to ask any special tax reduction in exchange for locating in Bartow since Garrett insisted on paying both property and school taxes.
"We're building a family park. What kind of message does it send to say we're coming here, but we don't want to pay to educate the children in the community we selected? That doesn't work. That's against our core values," Garret said in an interview.
As reported by Atlanta Business Chronicle, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt 1 & 2" were filmed throughout the Atlanta metro. Sites in LaGrange, Lithia Springs, Newnan, Atlanta, Griffin, Warm Springs, Dahlonega, Jonesboro and Thomaston were among the ones that the movie franchise used.
