Seven years after leaving "The View," former co-host Rosie O'Donnell has been booked to be a guest on the show.
According to Us Weekly, ABC announced on Monday the 51-year-old is set to appear on the Feb. 7 episode to promote her recurring role on the ABC Family program, "The Fosters." This marks O'Donnell's first appearance since she moderated on the show's 2006 to 2007 season.
"I have great affection for Rosie and we have remained in contact throughout the years. I am happy to welcome her back to the program," said "View" creator and co-host Barbara Walters in a statement on Monday. "She is always a lively and engaging guest and a part of the show's successful history."
During her eight-month stint on "The View," O'Donnell clashed with guests that included Donald Trump. The comedian was also involved in a public argument with conservative co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, over the word "terrorist" and its meaning.
O'Donnell bashed Hasselbeck for not defending her against the attacks from media outlets, including FOX, who said she called U.S. soldiers "terrorist."
"You are my friend since September," O'Donnell told Hasselbeck. "Do you believe that I think our troops are terrorists? And you would not even look me in the face, Elisabeth, and say, 'No, Rosie.'"
Hasselbeck replied: "You are an adult, and I'm not going to be the person for you to explain your thoughts. Defend your own insinuations."
During an interview on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," O'Donnell said she realized her time on the show was over after she watched herself argue with Hasselbeck. She ended her contract one month early on May 25.
"I didn't want to argue for a living," O'Donnell said about her decision to leave. "I didn't come back because the director and the producer did a split screen, and they had to prepare that in advance. I felt there was set-up egging me into that position."
Hasselbeck left "The View" in July 2013 to be a co-shot on "Fox & Friends." Us Weekly reported that O'Donnell will be on set with Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd, Whoopi Goldberg and Jenny McCarthy, who joined the morning show after Hasselbeck left.
