Dying ‘Star Wars’ Fan’s Last Wish, To Watch “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

A cancer patient that is also a "Star Wars" fan has his last dying wish and it is to watch "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". The fan is really hoping that Walt Disney Studios will let him watch the film before its launching on December 18 this year.

Daniel Fleetwood is a 32-year-old cancer patient from Texas. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with a connective tissue cancer identified as spindle cell carcinoma. According to Entertainment Weekly, in July, doctors told him he had only two months to live.

Fleetwood has been a great fan of "Star Wars" franchise since he was 8 years old. On Monday, he found out that 90 percent of his lungs is already covered with tumors.

"Judging by how progressive the disease has gotten in the past two months, I really don't think that I'll be able to make it," he shared to Houston's KPRC-TV.

A Twitter campaign with the hashtag #ForceForDaniel is being widely used to draw attention to Fleetwood in the hopes of everybody that Disney Studio will be able to grant this dying fan's wish.

Mark Hamill and John Boyega, both "Star Wars" stars have already retweeted a post asking everyone to spread the word concerning the campaign. Using the hashtag, Peter Mayhew also retweeted a message.

In order to raise up financial assistance on Fleetwood's medical bills, his wife has set up a GoFundMe page. According to CNN , the page features photos of Daniel in "Star Wars" characters' apparel, which consist of a Yoda hat and a Darth Vader jacket.

A similar story occurred in 2013 wherein J.J. Abrams, who helmed "The Force Awakens", fixed and fulfilled a similar hope of a dying "Star Trek" supporter. Abrams arranged everything for the terminally ill fan to watch "Star Trek: Into Darkness" before its release. Then the man died just days after watching the movie.
