Adele Discusses '25' Delays and How She Regrets Working With Blur's Damon Albarn: Here's Why

In her recent Rolling Stone interview, 27-year-old and a mom of one, Adele revealed the delays her new album has gone through. She spilled the beans that the legendary music producer Rick Rubin gave her the comment that made her want to scrap everything she had done for her new album.

"Many of the songs sounded like they might be on a different pop artist's album," Rubin says.

Although she took the comment professionally, she can't help but to feel disappointed, as she narrates, "When he said it, I couldn't work out if I was, like, devastated, going to cry my eyes out," Adele says. "And then I just said, 'I don't really believe myself right now, so I'm not surprised you f-ing said that.' "

Adele had to make adjustments since she was following a deadline for herself. Good thing, she was convinced by her manager and Rubin to pace herself and be patient, to which she agreed, "And that's not a way to make any kind of record," she says.

"Especially when I'm trying to f-ing follow 21. So I went back to the drawing board, really."

According to her, there are a number of full tracks that that didn't make 25's final cut. "Some songs are not f-ing good enough," Adele say.

When asked about how her experience was working with her childhood idol, Blur frontman Damon Albarn, who was previously reported to have contributed 5 songs for Adele's new album, she revealed that it was a huge mistake.

The Hello hit maker also pointed out that Albarn did not finish a single track in her new album. "No! None of it was right; none of it suited my record." And they had a clash with regards to Albarn calling her insecure. "He said I was insecure, when I'm the least-insecure person I know," she explained, as she referred to Albarn's previous statement that the Grammy winner was "very insecure."

"It ended up being one of those 'don't meet your idol' moments, and the saddest thing was that I was such a big Blur fan growing up," she bluntly said. "It was sad, and I regret hanging out with him," she added.
