A Taco Bell executive has been fired recently after beating an Uber driver, with, unfortunately for him, the whole thing caught on camera, according to USA Today.
Late Friday night, thirty-two-year-old passenger, Benjamin Golden, rode the car of Uber driver Edward Caban in Costa Mesa, Calif., reported CNBC.
It was all fine at the beginning. However, Golden was apparently too drunk to provide Caban with proper directions to his destination. Caban wanted him out of his car.
"You're too drunk to give me directions, man," Caban can be heard saying in a video uploaded on YouTube . "Get out of my car or I will call the police."
Golden then opens the door behind the front seat and says, "Lemme tell you something," after which he starts slapping, punching and pulling Caban's hair repeatedly.
Caban told CBS News that he had no choice then. In the video Caban's only way out of the situation was to spray Mace on the Taco Bell executive's face. He then chases him out into the street.
"The only way that I felt I was going to get him to stop beating me was to incapacitate him, was to use some kind of self-defense," Caban told CBS News. "I don't believe he would have stopped."
Golden is now facing charges of assaulting a cab driver and public intoxication. He has also been fired by Taco Bell from his job at the company as a Senior Associate Brand Manager, specializing in mobile commerce and innovation.
"Given the behavior of the individual, it is clear he can no longer work for us," a Taco Bell rep told Adweek. "We have also offered and encouraged him to seek professional help."
As for Caban, according to Fusion, he is now planning to look for another job.
