California Teen Stole Chef Guy Fieri's Lamborghini, is Convicted of Attempted Murder and Gets Life Sentence in Prison

A Northern California teen was sentenced Thursday to life in state prison with the possibility of parole for attempted murder and the theft of celebrity chef Guy Fieri's Lamborghini.

According to the Associated Press, Max Wade was convicted in October for charges of attempted murder, vehicle theft and other crimes. The life term comes with a 20-year sentence for using a firearm in an attempt for premeditated murder.

The Marin Independent Journal reported that on April 13, 2012 Wade tried to kill the boyfriend of a girl on whom he had a crush on. Wade reportedly fired multiple shots at Landon Wahlstrom, who was then 18, and his girlfriend Eva Dedier, then 17, as the couple sat in a car. Wade missed both targets.

AP reported that Wade was charged as an adult despite being a juvenile at the time of the car theft and the attempted murder. Due to a new state law, individuals who commit crimes as a minor but are convicted as adults are entitled to a parole hearing after serving 20 years.

Attorney Charles Dresow said that the 19-year-old also received a separate 16-month sentence for stealing the $200,000 sports car, belonging to the celebrity chef, from a British Motors auto dealership in San Francisco on March 8, 2011.

Marin County Deputy District Attorney Yvette Martinez considered the sentencing "entirely appropriate." Wade showed no emotion during his sentencing but he thanked Judge Kelly Simmons for giving him a fair trial, Reuters reported.

"He still is a very violent and sophisticated criminal," Prosecutor Yvette Martinez-Shaw told Channel 7, according to Reuters. "This case is not about a Lamborghini, it's not about a celebrity, it's about somebody who came within inches of taking two teenagers lives."
