Marijuana Legalization in Ohio Will Make Nick Lachey Richer: Marijuana Kingpin

If the title doesn't make sense to you because you're probably thinking - What can a former 98 Degrees boy band member and marijuana legalization have to do with each other? - Then you're probably not thinking about marijuana farming and their owners.

If you're in Ohio then you probably already have an idea that Nick Lachey owns a property in the state. According to a report from Vanity Fair, voting for marijuana legalization has a side note. There are only a few people who are legally allowed to grow marijuana in the state. To be more specific, there are only 10 designated farms in Ohio. These 10 farms are owned by the very same people who funded the vote to legalize marijuana in the first place. And you guessed it, Nick Lachey is one of them. Talk about a boyband led cartel.

If this happens, then this creates a form of constitutionally mandated oligopoly, as told by Washington Post. Nick Lachey has about 29 acres outside Akron. If marijuana becomes legal, all 1,100 state regulated marijuana retail stores will have no choice but to purchase the product from Nick Lachey or the other 9 farm owners, making them the sole suppliers once the ResponsibleOhio initiative is resolved positively to their aim. It is estimated that the 10 designated farms would have sales of up to $1.1 billion worth of marijuana every year.

If this article makes you think between making a famous music singer, song-writer and producer earn more money by becoming a marijuana king-pin and to have the freedom to smoke weed for recreation and medical use, then hopefully you have voted for what feels right for you. The latest polls show a split in the votes.

Nick Lachey isn't the only one who will profit from this campaign. ResponsibleOhio backers also include NFL Player Frostee Rucker and fashion designer Nanette Lepore.
