A lot of people have been jealous of Google employees - precisely because of their free food and its wide range of choices. In case you didn't know, the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California currently carries almost 30 cafes.
If that doesn't blow your mind, get this: Google's food options are just about to get bigger. Business Insider reports:
"Mobile corporate catering company The Whole Cart announces today that it will be bringing a fleet of 20 food trucks to the Googleplex by the end of the year.
"'We've created and branded a bunch of new food concepts just for Google,' The Whole Cart founder Matt Cohen said to Business Insider. 'We'll have a rotating group of 20 food trucks that all fulfill Google's food standards - responsible sourcing, portion size, and a plant-centric diet - as well as uphold the artisanal culture food trucks are known for.'"
Cohen was first approached by Google back in 2014, while one of the on-campus cafes was undergoing renovations. Matt Cohen also runs Off the Grid, a food truck company, which allows third-party food trucks to bring their offerings to special events and markets.
Thanks to The Whole Cart, Matt Cohen is given the chance to create 20 brand new concepts that are up to the Google standards regarding food services. This includes food quality, and behind-the-scenes operations like purchasing, accounting, and supply chain streamlining.
Similar to other more common food trucks, The Whole Cart menus are just as innovative: with fusion food from varying cultures - such as Southern and Asian food fusion, and a fusion of Indian cuisine and New York delis.
Probably the best part about these food trucks, though, is that Google employees get their The Whole Cart food items for free. Googlers can expect to find some food trucks in a central parking lot, while others will be located closer to the more isolated buildings in the Google compound.
