Metallica’s James Hetfield Records New Music

In celebration of the newly redesigned website of the American heavy metal band that was formed in 1981 - Metallica, Lars Ulrich (the band's drummer) made a video that, in part, brings in a peek at Metallica's ongoing recording sessions. The co-founder, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist - James Hetfield, who made a funny punchline saying he's "playing drums," performs a few crushingly heavy riffs at the two-minute mark of the video.

At the end of the video clip, the Danish drummer and one of the founding members of Metallica made an exit in the studio, while Metallica's frontman plays doomy phrasing along to a recording of Ulrich's drums - as Lars Ulrich opens up the door of the studio at the end of the video clip to present a mid-tempo grooving short repeated phrase.

Since last year, the members of Metallica have been working on new tracks, and when they performed in public for the first time with their new tune "Lords of Summer" on their Metallica by Request tour. Ulrich stated in March that "the creative elements of the Metallica album are close to being finished," Ulrich added at the time, "we are f*@*^n' in it."

Late last month, the lead guitarist, songwriter and member of the Metallica since 1983 - Kirk Hammett, stated that he was waiting for James Hetfield to be done with recording so he could start working on his part of the tracks. Kirk Hammett said about the direction of the music, "a lot of it was along the lines of Death Magnetic," as Metallica's latest and non-collaborative studio album - which came out in 2008.

In addition to Metallica news, the band has released that they will perform a gig in San Francisco, a day before the highest level of professional football in the United States - the Super Bowl. The event is officially titled "The Night Before," that is slated to take place on February 6 in San Francisco. And the American rock band that was formed in 2006 - Cage the Elephant, will open the show.
