Reese Witherspoon was just honored at the 29th American Cinematheque Awards in Los Angeles, California on Friday.
While at the event, the 39-year-old "Hot Pursuit" actress opened up about the possibility of a third movie for the "Legally Blonde" franchise.
It was just recently when Reese Witherspoon hinted that fans might soon see her portraying Elle Woods on the big screen once again. While on Lifetime's Rachel Zoe talk show, "Fashionably Late," Witherspoon said:
"I think it would be cool. I think we're ready to see Elle and see what she's up to lately. [...] That said, I don't know. Call MGM! I have no idea."
Talking to Entertainment Tonight at the Friday event, Reese Witherspoon said that a third installment for the "Legally Blonde" movie series would get people excited.
However, the "Wild" star also admitted that it's not set in stone just yet. "I don't know," she confessed. "The screeners wrote me and they said they were going to think about it."
While no one knows if "Legally Blonde 3" will actually happen, the Oscar winner thinks that the world is definitely ready to see what Elle Woods is up to:
"I think it's a really great time to talk about women in politics because we need more women in politics.[...] We're 50 percent of the population but we're only 17 percent of the government. We need some balance there."
In fact, Reese Witherspoon also shared that she has some great ideas for Elle Woods, thinking that it would be "kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice, or someone who runs for office" or even President of the country!
