"Brooklyn Nine Nine" was declared the Best TV Comedy Series at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday night and no one was more surprise than the show's star Andy Samberg.
According to E! News, the former "Saturday Night Live" veteran take home the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his work in as the smart-mouth cop on Fox's comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"
"Oh, no! I didn't prepare anything, it wasn't going to happen," Samberg said. "Who knew?!"
A surprised Samberg than thanked his co-stars, the show's writers, his management team and his wife, musician Joanna Newsom.
"I just will thank everyone. Thanks to Fox and Kevin Reilly and Universal. And the guys who came up with the show, Mike [Schur] and Dan [Goor]," Samberg said. "The cast is awesome. The crew, really good. Can't forget them. The writers kick A! I really do love them and respect them."
Samberg, who was nominated for the first time, took time to thank members of his comedy group "The Lonely Island," Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer. The actor ended his speech with calling his wife of nearly five months "beautiful and incredible."
Samberg was nominated alongside "The Big Bang Theory's" Jim Parsons, "The Michael J. Fox Show's" Michael J. Fox, "Arrested Development's" Jason Bateman and "House of Lies'" Don Cheadle.
Other winners for television include Amy Poehler for Best Actress, TV Series, Comedy or Musical; Amy Poehler, for her work in NBC's "Parks & Recreation"; Michael Douglas for Best Actor, TV Miniseries or Movie in HBO's "Behind the Candelabra"; and Bryan Cranston for Best Actor in a TV Series, Drama in A&E's "Breaking Bad".
