Tamera Mowry-Housely broke down into tears during an on an episode of the OWN Network's "Where Are They Now" while describing her encounters with racism for her interracial marriage with Fox News correspondent, Adam Housely.
According to E! News, the former child star said she's been bombarded with negative comments after marrying a white man. During the interview the reality star called the comments hurtful because she and her husband like to show their love, which she said people look past and turn into hate.
"I've never experienced so much hate ever in my life," Tamera Mowry told Oprah Winfrey. "I get called, 'White man's whore,' the new one, 'Back in the day, you cost $300 but now you're giving it to 'em for free.' Stuff that, me as a person, could never even fathom. I can't even think of these words. It's very hard for me to think of it because I'm a product of it. My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man. I grew up seeing a family. I didn't grow up seeing, 'ooh a n***er with a white person!' So it's very shocking to go through this.
"This was the big one. They say, 'Oh Tia's a true black woman because she married a black man.' Oh? I'm lesser of a black person because I married white?"
The former "Tia and Tamera" star, who is the product of an interracial relationship herself, married her husband on May 2011 in Napa Valley. The couple welcomed their first child together, son, Aden Housely, in Nov 2012.
"I couldn't even fathom or think of these words, because I'm a product of it," she said. "My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man, and I grew up seeing a family. I didn't grow up saying, 'Oh, that's a white man.'"
Despite the negative comments, the mother of one said she is proud to be in the relationship based on love.
"I love my husband so much. I love my family," she said. "I love our dynamic. I'm proud to be in the relationship I am in because it's based on love. Pure love."
The twin sisters recently announced that they would no longer be continuing their reality show, "Tia & Tamera," which showed both siblings living their low lives as a mother, wife and actress and business woman.
