The battle between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe continues as Anthony Mackie slams Zack Snyder's superhero flick 'Man of Steel.'
In an interview with Collider, the 'Captain America: Civil War' star insisted that Marvel was better than DC before asking his interviewer, Steve Weintraub, on what was the last good DC movie he saw. Weintraub admitted that he loved 'Man of Steel' and was immediately told, "You're bananas."
Although the Collider journalist enumerated the several good points of the film, which included Hans Zimmer's scoring and the opening scene in Krypton, Anthony Mackie kept insisting that the rest of the movie was no good. At one point, the 'Our Brand is Crisis' actor told Weintraub," That scares me, that you are reviewing movies." When Steve Weintraub admitted he no longer does that, Mackie sighed with relief and even told the interviewer not to praise 'Captain America: Civil War' because he has "awful taste."
Although Anthony Mackie appears to be making fun of Steve Weintraub, his statements were still direct hits at 'Man of Steel' director Zack Snyder, who commented that there were too many superhero films. In addition to that, he also said that 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is unlike a "flavor-of-the-week Ant-Man."
The comment by the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' director did not go unnoticed. Sebastian Stan, who appeared in the post-credits scene for 'Ant-Man' as the Winter Soldier, immediately commented that 'Captain America: Civil War' isn't trying to mimic Christopher Nolan's films.
Although Zack Snyder has not responded to any of the statements made by the 'Captain America: Civil War' stars, this looks like a battle that will last until the release of both movies.
'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' will premiere on March 25, 2016 while 'Captain America: Civil War' will hit theaters on May 5, 2016.
