Instagram New Feature: Curated Video for Halloween

In a bid to keep up with technology, Instagram has introduced added feature that aims at Snapchat and Twitter. Instagram has launched a new video channel that will feature curated photos and videos from users about a particular event or moment as Business Insider reports.

According to Business Insider, Wired has reported that the featured was made available today for users in the United States. When viewed, it will showcase the best videos that users have posted on the service. Furthermore, it is said that a team of editors at Instagram will play a part in choosing the videos that will be featured.

Users may browse through different video clips as they automatically play and if you're interested in the creator of a particular video, you may tap on their username and go directly to their profile or to that specific post.

The idea is to create Instagram content around a particular event and make it easier for users to search for it. This feature may be familiar with Snapchat users since it introduced its "Our Story" feature a year ago.

Snapchat has started this feature with events like Electric Daisy Carnival dance, music festival and FIFA World Cup. Instagram on the other hand decided to launch this similar feature with the festive Halloween.

Facebook has been filling in the gap ever since it failed to acquire Snapchat. The company also seems to have copied the app by building what it called a "Slingshot" which was primarily a video-focused app according to the Tech. Predictably, Slingshot has failed to oust Snapchat and the latter continued to add more and more features.

A little over a year ago, over 700 million photos were shared through Snapchat, surpassing Facebook and placing it on top of the charts. This may be one of the main reasons why Facebok ran after Snapchat. More so, the latter has been successful in attracting teenagers. Reports speak that teens prefer the more private social media Snapchat.

However, based on latest reports, Facebook is still top of the charts among teens aging 13-17. With its acquisitions like Instagram and WhatsApp, Facebook has been a leader in photo sharing services.

Meanwhile, Instagram will definitely look for more universal events like music festivals, news events or holidays to program its pop-up video channel. There were no announcements of offering this feature to advertisers but it is expected that users will love this feature.
