It is still unclear whether Whiterose will be returning in the second season of 'Mr. Robot,' but BD Wong may have found a new gig as a mad scientist in 'Gotham' Season Two!
According to USA Today, the 'Jurassic World' star has just been cast as Professor Hugo Strange in the Batman prequel series.
But who is Hugo Strange and how does he fit into the 'Gotham' pre-Batman universe?
Professor Hugo Strange first appeared in 'Detective Comics #36' back in 1940 and was actually conceived before the Caped Crusader's other adversaries, so it makes sense that he would make an appearance in 'Gotham.' In the comic books, Professor Strange is one of the few villains who know Batman's true identity.
Hugo Strange will be a recurring character in 'Gotham,' where he has been brought in to head Arkham Asylum. However, it turns out that the professor has plans of his own, conducting experiments on inmates in Indian Hill.
It looks like Professor Hugo Strange's appearance has already been hinted on in the series, when Bridgit Pike aka Firefly (Michelle Veintimilla) was carted away into Indian Hill while the orderlies talked about the strange activities that happen in Indian Hill.
BD Wong is no stranger to playing mysterious roles. The 'Jurassic World' star was last seen in the surprise hit TV show 'Mr. Robot,' where he played both the crossdressing Whiterose and her smooth-talking alter ego. Although Whiterose only appeared for a few minutes in the series, she turned out to be one of the most memorable characters in 'Mr. Robot.'
But will Whiterose return to confuse Elliot (Rami Malek) once again? 'Mr. Robot' showrunner Sam Esmail admitted he wants to keep working with BD Wong.
"I would be stupid not to work with BD Wong again," he said. "He's such an amazing actor, and the scene that he did in [Episode 8].... He was just brilliant."
'Gotham' Season Two airs on Fox every Monday nights.
