Based on reports, Burger King is in the hopes to be the first fast food chain to sell alcohol in its restaurants in the United Kingdom.
The fast food chain really hopes to start the new craze from next month. The four branches of the chain will be serving plastic bottles of beer to go next to every meal being ordered.
It already applied for drinks licenses for its four UK branches.
If the application will be approved, customers will only need to head to Newcastle-under-Lyme, Blackpool, Hull and Bury St Edmunds to wash down the fast food with an order of ice cold beer. And Burger King could also apply for more licenses nationwide.
The application of the food chain only allows the beer to be served seven days a week for consumption on the premises only from 10am and 11pm.
A Burger King spokesman explained The Mail: "We're just catching up with the rest of the world really. It'll probably be an American beer to fall in line with the brand."
On the other hand, competitor McDonalds said serving of alcoholic drinks is not an option their customers had requested for.
'We develop our menu based on what our customers tell us they like and want from a visit to McDonald's,' a message on the fast food restaurant.
'Although a number of European McDonald's markets serve alcoholic beverages as part of their menu, this is not something that we have experienced customer demand for or something that fits with the family-friendly focus of our restaurants in the UK,' it added.
This act of Burger King sets worry to alcohol-awareness campaigners.
In 1950, the firm was founded in Miami and is considered to be one of the world's largest fast-food restaurant operators and is the second largest restaurant group in the United Kingdom.
