Teen called 'racist' for wearing 'offensive' Nicki Minaj blackface costume

Every teen dreams of going to the Homecoming and being noticed by many- but not anymore to this Florida teen who drew attention in social media for posting photos of her in an "offensive" and "racist" Nicki Minaj costume for her school's Homecoming.

The alleged offensive and racist costume worn by the teen features a skin- tight leopard leotard with matching painted blackface and a stuffed bottom, which was found by Twitter users as discriminating, racist, and greatly offensive to the black community, and to the pop icon.

The Florida teen who goes by @emmajohns129 on Twitter posted and captioned such photos as: 'Nicki Minaj and Drake in the cut #DynamicDuo #homecoming #ovo'; where she poses as the blackface Minaj with another high school student.

She immediately apologized for posting those photos on social media and claimed that she did not mean to offend anyone with her Homecoming costume after receiving numerous bashes and threat mails.

In a report by The Inquisitr, Twitter users who found those photos highly offensive claimed and threatens to send letters to the university where the teen plans to apply for admissions, to lower her chances of getting in to the university next year.

An infuriated Twitter user tweeted the photos to the university: '@UF ur potential student @emmajohns129 has been posting some racist content& is a bad reflection on yall. [sic]'

It was too late before she realised how bad her situation was on social media when she finally resorted to deleting the photo and setting her profile in 'private'.

Cases like these of costumes- gone- wrong and received badly on social media are common especially during the Halloween season- seeking for fame and attention should be taken with extra precaution especially on the online community.
