A lot of people get disgusted of acnes, blackheads and cysts but they are Dr. Sandra Lee a.k.a. Dr. Pimple Popper's favourite things. The board certified dermatologist from California has an odd fondness for popping pimples and squeezing blackheads out of her patients' pores-that has caused her instant fame and thousands of followers.
Washington Post -- For almost a year now, the 45 year old Dr. Lee has been sharing her unique thing and taking videos of herself popping her patient's pimples (just like popping balloons), pulling out their blackheads (which she calls gems hidden under the skin) and making cysts ooze from she-knows-where. She posts these bizarre videos on Instagram and Youtube, where she has quickly (and amazingly) become a celebrity with hundreds of thousands of followers and likers and more than 170 million views.
People have responded to her videos either in amazement or disgust. Dr. Lee describes her profession as something fascinating for everyone as people are always interested about skin issues-especially the unbelievable cases she features in her videos. Example of this is 4.5 million views worth-video showing her extracting a huge, disc-shaped blackhead from an old woman's face. Lee's fans get amazed by how tricky her job is yet she still manages to joke around with her patients.
Dr. Lee even likened her channel to "Humans of New York", telling that hers is like "Humans of Dermatology" that features anonymous blackheads and gives little snippets of her patients' life stories.
Ironically, the seemingly natural-born popper actually refuses to do her own husband's pimples and dislikes watching other amateur popping videos in YouTube. Her viral videos have brought her to fame and her profession as more and more patients come to visit her and get their skins done.
