The Cheesecake Factory is stepping up and will be opening its first restaurant upstate. Currently, the restaurant chain is in the process of acquiring a permit to build its much-anticipated restaurant at Haywood Mall in Greenville City, South Carolina.
The news of The Cheesecake Factory going Upstate has been rumored for a long time. According to the city of Greenville, it is a rumor no longer as the chain has finally taken its first step at making the dream a reality.
The Cheesecake Factory has been granted a building permit to build its own restaurant at the Haywood Mall, according to city representative Lelise Fletcher.
Alethea Rowe, a spokesperson for the Cheesecake Factory, said that the company was not able to comment on a potential site before since they still had no signed lease.
"Our restaurant development team is always on the lookout for premier sites to further grow The Cheesecake Factory brand presence, and all sites that fit our criteria for success will be seriously considered," she added.
Currently, there are no other information immediately released by the company.
According to a document released by the city, The Cheesecake Factory reportedly made payment of more than $14,000 in order to acquire the permit. The document also states that the building's value stands at more than $500,000.
The year 1978 was the year that The Cheesecake Factory opened its first restaurant. It was in Beverly Hills, California, that this happened, it says in the company's website.
Now, the restaurant chain has nearly 200 locations around the world, as shown in their website.
In the United States, The Cheesecake Factory has five restaurants in Georgia - one in Buford and Atlanta and three in North Carolina. The North Carolina locations include Raleigh, Durham and Charlotte, according to WYFF4.
The Greenville location will be the company's first restaurant in South Carolina.
