If there's something you can change with your child's diet, cut their sugar intake.
Sugary food is the most favorite food of not just American kids but most kids in the whole world. But consumption of huge quantities of sugar may lead to obesity and hyperactivity anywhere.
New study conducted in the University of California- San Francisco and Touro Univesity makes a new solution for the sugar consumption of American kids through further examination.
The entire 44 volunteer in the said study were all kids, they were obese and each of them had etabolic health issues which include high blood pressure and other health disorders.
According to Washington Post report, these kids ranged between the ages of 9 to 18 years old and for them to understand fully how their bodies may respond , they started to have their low sugar diets.
In order for the scientist to know the every aspect of their health, the volunteers underwent oral glucose tolerance tests, bone density scans, cholesterol counts, and several extensive tests. Food questionnaires were also filled out by their parents so that further understanding of their diets will increase.
Through the use of all the information gathered, they created a new diet which cut down the amount of sugar and replacing it with starch.
Robert Lustig, the study author and pediatric endocrinologist at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco said: "Simply replacing sugar with starch without changing the amount of calories they were consuming or increasing their level of exercise, all metabolic health measures improved."
Within 10 days, diastolic blood pressure and the amount of bad cholesterol went down, even though the quantity of calories they consume was somewhat unchanged. In that short period, they have lost about two pounds and in some cases the researchers increased the sum of calories they were feeding them to continually help them lose weight faster.
