SNL Anchorman 2: Movie Cast Takes on One Direction

Just call them Nine Direction.

One Direction, and the cast of" Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" hosted NBC's "Saturday Night Live" with a battle for the ages concert.

Three-time "Saturday Night Live" host, Paul Rudd, opened the show with a monologue and a skit reflecting on his past two stints on the sketch comedy program, mentioning that both times musical guests, Beyoncé and Paul McCartney, overshadowed him.

"But tonight, finally, it's the 'Paul Rudd Show," the actor said.

Enters, One Direction members, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, stealing the attention away from the funnyman.

"You've got your boy band, well I've brought my man band," Rudd said as his "Anchorman 2" co-stars Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and David Koechner walked on stage.

The stars exchange funny hit lines, including Ferrell "Why don't you beat it Menudo."

"Why don't you kids go sit on Santa's lap and ask for a pair of balls," Carell added.

Rudd quickly defused the tension and said they were not there to there to fight. The two sides then launched into a musical piece of the "Afternoon Delight."

"We are Nine Direction," Rudd declared afterward to big applause.

Rudd played several characters, including Tyler Perry's Madea and the model whom Michelangelo supposedly used as the inspiration for David.

The five dashing gents also appeared in a skit centered around Rudd, also known as One Direction's, biggest fan Dan Charles. Rudd's character placed a man camping out to get tickets for a One Direction concert, while being surrounded by pre-teen girls.

"Do I love One Direction? I don't know," Rudd joked. "Is Liam's favorite color purple?"

"Oh you're a great dad, what's her name?" Liam asked Rudd as he presented him with a photo to sign.

"Her name is Dan Charles," Rudd responded sheepishly.

SNL is new next week with host John Goodman and musical guest Kings of Leon.
