Adele has opened up in a new interview with Vice i-D about her latest single after four years, "Hello," and her forthcoming album called "25."
"So 'Hello' is about wanting to be at home and wanting to reach out to everyone I've ever hurt - including myself - and apologize for it," the 27-year-old British Grammy winner told the site. When asked if it was about her ex-partner which the single "Someone Like You" was written for, she quickly replied, "That's over and done with, thank f---. That's been over and done with for f----- years. No, it's not about anyone specifically. It's about friends, ex-boyfriends, it's about myself, it's about my family. It's also about my fans as well. I feel like everyone thinks I'm so far away and I'm not. Everyone thinks I live in f-king America, I don't."
Adele divulged that the album is about her past in many ways. As a matter of fact, she has previously described it as a "make-up record."
"The record is about getting older and becoming nostalgic," the "Set Fire In The Rain" songstress continued. "It's about what was, what is, what might have been. It's about missing things that you had no idea were so precious, like being 18 years old and drinking two liter bottles of cider in Brockwell Park with your mates."
Moreover, the singer is coming at music from a new perspective. The mother of the now 3-year-old Angelo has embraced becoming a first-time parent. In fact, she admitted that the experience has humbled her in many ways.
"Becoming a parent and moving past my mid-twenties, I simply don't have the capacity to worry about as many things that I used to really enjoy worrying about," Adele said. "I used to f------ love the drama of all of it, but now I'm a mom I only have so much head space. I've got to clear a lot of stuff the f--- out, which is really therapeutic, 'cause I can really hold a grudge. Life is so much easier when you don't hoard your past."
The singer also opened up about raising her little Angelo. "It's f-king hard. I thought it would be easy. 'Everyone f-king does it, how hard can it be?' I had no idea," Adele said. "It is hard but it's phenomenal. It's the greatest thing I ever did. He makes me be a d-------, and he makes me feel young and there's nothing more grounding than a kid kicking off and refusing to do what you're asking of them. It used to be that my own world revolved around me, but now it has to revolve around him."
