A Wendy's employee was fired after a customer found a half-smoked joint (PHOTO) inside her burger, according to TMZ.
Wendy's employee Amy Elizabeth Seiber was arrested and charged with marijuana possession, after a customer at the chain's Lovejoy, Ga. location called 911 and reported she found a partially smoked joint inside the cheeseburger she ordered.
Officer Randall Rowland reported Seiber was smoking marijuana, while on the clock, when she said she "misplaced" it inside of the cheeseburger. Reports stated Seiber acknowledge that the joint belonged to her when the police arrived.
The patron, who ordered the cheeseburger from the drive-thru of the chain, said after taking a bite of the burger she noticed the burger carried a strange smell. When pulling the bun off police said she saw the blunt inside.
It was reportedly rolled into a "hollowed-out cigar," the size of an index finger. Seiber said she immediately contacted the chain manager after the incident occurred.
The New York Daily News reported the customer was hospitalized with food poisoning-like symptoms after eating the burger. Wendy's reportedly offered to pay the customer's medical bill and gave her a $50 gift certificate.
Wendy's officials apologized for the incident and stated they are "deeply sorry for what happened."
"Obviously the employee broke the rules and did not follow proper food handling steps," said Wendy's spokesman Denny Lynch.
He added that the corporation contacted the restaurant's owner and officials were told she had been fired.
