Bill Beckwith, the carpenter who became co-host of HGTV home-improvement show "Curb Appeal," has died at the age of 38.
According to E! News, Beckwith's motorcycle was hit by a car at 8:30 p.m. Monday evening in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood. He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where he died from his injuries.
"The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperative with police investigators," police said in a statement. "[Beckwith] was transported to [San Francisco General Hospital] where he died from injuries sustained in the collision."
A Facebook page was created in his memory on Wednesday.
"Well, this is hard to believe or understand," Andy Seaver, another friend, wrote on Facebook. "My heart is broken for family: Mom and dad, Christian, Amy and Natala. I can't comprehend. All day, I don't know what to say, so I'll start with my memories. I have so many of us."
"Bill was truly a beloved and respected member of our Curb Appeal family and this loss is devastating to us," the show said on its official Facebook page Tuesday. "We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Bill's family."
Beckwith studied modern dance and English at the University of Montana, before founding construction firm BB DesignBuild in 2001. He later joined "Curb Appeal" with co-host John Gidding, Chip Wade and Kimberly Lacy, where each episode makes over the exterior of selected houses.
"The HGTV family is deeply saddened by Bill's tragic death, and we mourn his loss along with his many family and friends who will miss his creativity, adventurous spirit and general love of life," the network said in a statement, according to E! News.
Beckwith is survived by his girlfriend Yulia Korneeva, who posted her feelings on her Facebook page.
"My love: so kind, so bright, adventurous and strong. You are loved by so many good people! I wish you could stay with us for way longer."
A memorial will be held on Sunday by his family and friends.
