Tina Fey's Touching Tribute To Her Late Father

Comedian Tina Fey, spoke to the Philadeplhia Inquirer for her father's orbituary on Saturday, October 24.

Donald Fey died at the age of 82 of heart failure on October 18, after whichTina Fey paid tribute to him, the man who taught her a love for storytelling and learning. 

"He was a great dad and a talented artist and writer. But I also think of him as a Great American - he served his country in Korea, he served his city as a fireman, he took his kids regularly to art museums and historical sites." Is what Tina Fey stated of her late father.

She recalls a funny moment playing catch with her dad: "When he taught me how to play baseball he would say to me, 'If you throw like a girl again, we're going in.' (I took it in the spirit it was intended)."

The actress, using her go-to sense of humor to lighten the situation, adds, "He read poetry and history and newspapers. He was an informed patriot. The Republican Party should have tried to clone him."

Tina's brother Peter, who is a writer and producer with QVC, reflects on his sister's sentiment telling The Inquirer how his father pushed them to be their best.

They recalled how "He was a great painter and we read two of his poems at the funeral service. He was very dapper, loved learning, and showed us how to expand our horizons and how to live a life properly."

A chapter in Tina's 2011 hit book Bossypants was dedicated to her father called That's Don Fey.

According to the Inquirer, although Donald Fey worked as a professional writer for more than 30 years, working at Business Week his talents mainly focused on writing for fund-raising and development. He helped raise more than $500 million for schools, hospitals, and public-service agencies.

Donald left behind Tina's mother, Jeanne, and her brother, Peter.
