Ricky Gervais 2015: Golden Globes 2016 Gets Host After Tina Fey And Amy Poehler, Will Further Controversy Arise? [VIDEO]

Before "Saturday Night Live" alums (and "Weekend Update" divas) Tina Fey and Amy Poehler began their amazing three-year streak hosting the Golden Globe awards, one British comedian and actor took the stage in a storm of controversy that left many wounded over his very strong and dark sense of humor - and now, the award show has hired him for a Ricky Gervais 2015 return!

For three years in a row before Tina and Amy's golden age hosting the awards, Gervais stood in the podium and entertained the audiences of one of the biggest award shows in Hollywood around the world, and now the Ricky Gervais 2015 return is official.

According to Time Magazine, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the people who give out the Golden Globes) announced Ricky Gervais' 2015 return to hosting duties last Monday, as he'll be taking the position again for the next award show, set for January 10, 2016.

"We're excited to have Ricky Gervais back to host the most enjoyable awards show of the season in his own inimitable way," Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman, in a statement to Variety about Ricky Gervais' 2015 return to the Golden Globes. "Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor - and send up - the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seats belts."

In the past, Gervais' hosting received polarizing reviews and audience support, as many considered him edgy and witty while bringing British humor to the light-hearted award show - and many others considered him crass and rude.

The Guardian reports that Gervais had vowed never to host the Golden Globes again, saying he'd told his agent to "never let me be persuaded to do it again," but it seems the years have made him softer in this aspect with this newly announced Ricky Gervais 2015 return.
