Ariana Grande received an award and a standing ovation, all in one night.
The 20-year-old singer and Nickelodeon star received thunderous applause for her stripped-down performance of her song "Tattooed Heart," from her "Yours Truly" album at the 2013 American Music Awards on Sunday.
Among those to stand and applaud the young songstress were artist Lady Gaga and singer Ciara. MTV News compared Grande's performance to Motown favorites such as Gladys Knight and the Pips.
She also took home the honor of "Best New Artist" at the 2013 American Music Awards. The award is the first for the platinum-selling singer.
"Oh My God, I'm so nervous. Thank you so much. This is for my fans," the singer said during her acceptance speech. "I have the most loving, supporting fans in the world and I love them so much. Thank you to the AMAs for nominating me."
