WWE got a taste of heavy metal during Saturday's NXT Aftershock event in Sacramento, California, as Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor helped Samoa Joe earn a victory over Baron Corbin.
The 41-year-old may be the lead singer of Slipknot, but he sure knows how to pack a punch! While attending festival, things got heated between him and 31-year-old WWE NXT wrestler. Despite their difference in size, Corey wasn’t afraid to show Baron who’s boss by totally smacking him!
Corey Taylor was trading barbs with Baron Corbin on social media in the weeks leading up to this weekend's match between Samoa Joe and Corbin, he was in attendance watching the action.
This seemed like the perfect venue for Corbin and Taylor to reignite their feud, as Slipknot is currently on tour and playing a show in San Bernardino, California, on Sunday night.
Sitting front row at the match, Corey quickly caught the eye of Baron, and suddenly the Twitter feud was brought to life. Baron got up in Corey’s face after mocking him, and once Baron poked Corey hard in the shoulder, Corey had no trouble throwing a punch right back. This got the biggest audience reaction of the match and allowed Joe to get the win.
The end result of Corbin's arrogance is Taylor got the last laugh, while Joe was able to get another victory. The former TNA star has acclimated himself nicely in the five months since debuting on NXT and had another big moment on Saturday.
Considering the beef between him and Baron, Corey was probably pretty satisfied with his successful punch. Plus, Samoa Joe came out with the victory in the match, so Corey seemingly won in two ways! If there’s one thing wrestlers should take away from Corey’s amazing feat, it’s to never underestimate the power of people like him!
However, since nothing is ever really over in WWE, Corbin's rivalry with Taylor will likely manifest in the coming months. Who knows — perhaps the rock star will be in the ring for a WrestleMania match.
