Sosie Bacon, Daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, Named 2014 Miss Golden Globe

The torch has been passed.

Sosie Bacon, the 21-year-old daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, has been named Miss Golden Globe 2014 by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

"I'm humbled that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association bestowed this honor on to me," Sosie said at the ceremony Thursday. "I'm also grateful to my parents whose talent inspires me everyday but first and foremost who have been endlessly supportive and loving throughout my journey. I'm so proud to honor them as Miss Golden Globe."

The 21-year-old, first starred alongside her mom in 2005's "Loverboy", a movie directed by her father. She played the younger version of the same character played by her mother.

"As a young actress who is just beginning my career, it is truly an honor to be a part of such a special night in film and television," Sosie said in a statement. "I can only hope to continue the legacy and tradition of Miss Golden Globe by following in the footsteps of my predecessors."

Sosie, who began acting the age of 11, has a recurring role on her mother's TV series, "The Closer."

"As we all know, she comes from a very talented family," HFPA president Theo Kingma said in a statement

The position has been previously held by eventual acting luminaries Laura Dern and Melanie Griffith.

Clint Eastwood's daughters, Francesca, in 2012 and Kathryn, in 2005, . Past decade winners include Rumor Willies, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter, in 2005 and Lily Costner, Kevin Costner daughter in 2004.

According to Yahoo News, the role of Miss Golden Globe can even lead to a Hollywood career. Dakota Johnson earned the title in 2006. The actress was recently cast as the lead in the high-talked about film "50 Shades of Grey" also staring Jamie Dornan,

The 2014 Golden Globe Awards, hosted again by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will air on Jan. 12.
