Rihanna's ex-publicist Jonathan Hay decided to come clean to Inside Edition about his lying past, apparently.
According to Entertainment Tonight:
"After J. Randy Taborelli's book, 'Becoming Beyonce,' claimed that a publicist had lied about an affair between Jay Z and Rihanna to drum up press, Jonathan Hay is admitting to just that."
Jonathan Hay talked about the time he was representing Rihanna, saying, "I was desperate at the time because I wanted to have a hit record. [...] We were young and stupid."
Hay released a statement to ET, claiming that he had not read the J. Randy Taborelli book. Not only that, but he also says that the book's release "came at the worse [sic] time for me professionally."
Jonathan says he is a Tidal Rising producer, a part of the Jay Z owned streaming service. Rihanna's former publicist explains:
"I'm surprised that people are even talking about this still because I admitted this in the press seven or eight years ago. [...] I brought the truth out on my own years ago because I was feeling convicted [sic] about it then and wanted to clear the air."
On the other hand, the "Becoming Beyonce" author says that Jonathan Hay's false rumor was the reason behind Beyonce and Jay Z's split in 2005 before deciding to get back together.
Furthermore, Taborelli also claimed to say that the infamous "elevator incident" between Jay Z and Beyonce's sister in 2014 was because Solange overheard the power couple arguing about the rapper wanting to go to a party with Rihanna.
Taborelli said, "Beyonce did what Beyonce does: She laid down the law. This is very Beyonce to say, 'You ain't going. It's not gonna happen. End of story.'"
