Melissa Benoist, auditioned to the latest character Girl of Steel in the new CBS drama "Supergirl." The said program launches Monday at 8:30 p.m. Auditions for the program lasted three months.
The 27-year-old got the engagement for her ultimate "Supergirl" character and she was ready.
"I wasn't looking for a physical role," she stated. "But whatever comes your way happens for a reason. The second that I saw in my email inbox the title 'Supergirl,' I knew it was something important, and it was something exciting and rare that I wanted to be a part of."
GOP hopeful Jeb Bush said that he thinks "she's pretty hot" and he plans to watch the program. This happens before the show "Supergirl" has not yet premiered.
Creator Greg Berlanti - who also handles "The Flash" and "Arrow" above at the CW - also designed Benoist's Supergirl to take an unusual air travel path from her predecessors because superheroes aren't precisely hard to discover these days.
"I didn't read the comic as a kid," Benoist says. "But I've immersed myself in the mythology now, so I know she's a very different character than she is in the comic. We didn't want to be the same iteration."
Benoist says she by now feels the distinction from her previous acting roles, which comprise the melancholic Marley Rose on "Glee".
"It's a very big change," she stated. "You see it in how people behave. You just try keep focused on what you have to do."
Just like any other Supergirls ahead of her, Benoist needs an outfit that looks heroic yet remains useful for flying and fighting.
Her costume designer is Colleen Atwood who does a "great" job there, Benoist says, losing the glossy bright red and blue of the comic for more muted colors that let a girl move.
