David Bowie Will Release New Album ‘Blackstar’ On His 69th Birthday

David Bowie, the King of space-themed rock 'n roll, will release a "completely bonkers" new album on January 8, the same date of his 69th birthday. The seven-track album is called "Blackstar". According to the Times of London the album has 10-minute-long title track which includes "Gregorian chants, a soul section (and) various electronic beats and bleeps".

A blond, youthful-looking Bowie , reportedly will be his new album's cover.

Details about the new album are limited. It appears that only few people have heard about the album release but some papers reported that Bowie recorded his album with local jazz artist at the Magic Shop studio in SoHo, the same place where he created his previous album in secret.

The "Space Oddity" singer will release a long, ghostly tune on Nov. 9. This tune will be the opening theme for approaching British crime drama "The Last Panthers". The song won't even be presented as radio edit.

Bowie's approaching Off-Broadway musical titled, "Lazarus" will also feature the track. "Lazarus" is inspired by the 1963 sci-fi novel "The Man Who Fell to Earth" and its screen adaptation starring Bowie on 1976.

According to Times, "Long, jazzy, jams mixed with the kind of driving beat pioneered by '70s German bands Can and Kraftwerk" should be expected by the singer's fans on his approaching 25th album.

Bowie's previous whole album, "The Next Day," launched in 2013. "Blackstar" keeps Bowie's habit of galaxy-inspired album titles, together with "Earthling," "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" and "Space Oddity."

Bowie became a significant figure in popular music for more than four decades, and is well-known as a trendsetter, mostly for his work in the 1970s. The singer first caught the attention of the public when his song "Space Oddity" achieved the top five of the UK Singles Chart in July 1969.
