Jeremy Renner On Jennifer Lawrence Wage-Gap Concerns: 'That's Not My Job'

The call for sexism and unequal pay sighted on Jennifer Lawrence's recent essay has gathered massive support from her co-stars, including Bradley Cooper, Jessica Chastain and Rooney Mara.

However, actor Jeremy Renner, who happens to be Lawrence and Cooper's co-star in the "American Hustle", had a different take on the issue, US magazine reported.

When being asked if he would be willing to support his female co-stars as they continue to fight their rights for equal pay in the future, said "That's not my job."

He went on saying, "I don't know contracts and all that sort of stuff.

The 'Avengers' actor went on to explain that he gives his full support to actresses being paid fairly. However, he is more focused on his acting and how he performs as an actor rather than dealing with something he knows nothing about.

"I'm a performer and I know human behavior." He said. "When it comes to that sort stuff I let other people deal with that."

While it's clear enough that Renner was just giving his clear-cut answers to the questions regarding the issue, his seemingly insensitive statements didn't sit well with some critics and social media users.

As quoted in the Christianity Daily, some Twitter users who were enraged by his statements, suggested that Renner's Avengers character, Clint Barton should be replaced with a female version in the Marvel comics and named the actress, Kate Bishop as the most fit for the role.

Reports say that it's not the first time for the social media users to take part on Renner's issue this year, adding that during the Golden Globes back in January, the actor was recalled commenting on Jennifer Lopez's breasts, which Lopez later responded saying that Renner's statement was "really funny".
