October 21, 2015, Wednesday, marked the day that Brown and Marty McFly travelled to the "future" in "Back to the Future: Part II," and with the holiday honoring the iconic film, another icon who has appeared in the film is being honored - the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
News agencies have waited in anticipation for the Wednesday anniversary, with the CBC calling it one of the "top events to watch for in 2015" back in January.
Michael Jackson may have not exactly been part of the 1989 film's cast, having only a small cameo, the world has not forgotten the King of Pop's role. These include articles and references to Jackson and his cameo, and a few interesting trivia.
Billboard.com claims the film to be responsible for "some of cinema's greatest music moments and a couple hit songs," and they have included Michael's "Beat It" on their list.
Fans of the King of Pop will certainly get nostalgic as it was announced that "Beat It" may going to be included in the film's soundtracks. Composer Alan Silvestri for the "Back to the Future II" series has also been reported to have prepared an extra 15 minutes of music for a 21st Century Orchestra concert for the film, according to The Inquisitr.
Michael Jackson's cameo in "Back to the Future II" shows the King of Pop as a robot waiter in Cafe 80s as Marty McFly arrives in the film's future. The popular Jackson song "Beat It" also made it in the 1989 movie.
Things shown in "BTTF II" may have been peculiar in 1989, but some came true, such as the use of holograms and 3D movies including the image of Michael Jackson.
A Hollywood Life report in January reads:
"Early in the film, Marty is exploring the world of 2015 and walks by a hologram movie theater! He gets freaked out by a holographic shark that looks like it is going to eat him. Films in 3D are everywhere these days, and we have witnessed both Tupac and Michael Jackson give crazy realistic holographic performances after their deaths."
Another interesting trivia is that a limited edition Pepsi bottle replica of the one shown in the scene where Michael Jackson was in - when Marty McFly orders a "Pepsi Perfect" at Cafe 80s - is now available for $20.15, according to USA Today.
Another cool trivia: it may be safe to say that Michael is proud of his role in "Back to the Future II." In Lee Pinkerton's book, Jackson, Michael the Many Faces, it is said that Michael Jackson proudly showed the film to a group of 130 YMCA summer campers in 1990 inside his private movie theater in his Neverland Ranch.
If you want to commemorate the legacy of the King of Pop and his role in "Back to the Future II" in your own little way, Michael's sister Latoya had a suggestion in June 24, 2014. In an interview with People, Latoya Jackson said that doing "something kind is the best way to honor her brother.
