‘Back To The Future’ Day: Lyft Offers DeLorean Ride In NYC On Marty McFly’s Arrival, Time Traveling Not Included [VIDEO]

It's been thirty years since Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) were first brought to the public and entered pop culture imagination in a classy DeLorean made for time traveling, and now, finally, it's the "Back to the Future" day we've all been waiting for - and New Yorkers can celebrate in style!

The beloved films are getting all kinds of homages all over the world on "Back to the Future" day, October 21, 2015, the date that marks the arrival of Marty and Doc to "future" Hill Valley, a place where cars fly around and the Chicago Cubs have won the World Series - now, of course, some can even hop on the iconic car that made the adventure happen!

According to CNET, ride-hailing service Lyft is celebrating "Back to the Future" day in a big way to mark the film's iconic date: offering free rides on a DeLorean in New York City!

In a partnership with Verizon for the big day, using the service on "Back to the Future" day from 11am to 5pm, users might be picked up by a DeLorean if they choose the "McFly Mode" on the order - and this will mean a 15-minute free ride on the iconic car.

"We want to give our customers access to exclusive and unexpected experiences, cool apps and new technology," said Melissa Garlick senior vice president of brand creative marketing for Verizon in a statement to CNBC.

Unfortunately, the available DeLoreans neither fly nor time travel, but passengers will have to make do.
