Alan Tudyk Talks About Working On 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' And His New Web-Series With Nathan Fillion

It seems like most of the recent films have been made entirely from CGI animation and other special effects. However, the highly awaited spinoff movie 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' relies on old-school shooting techniques.

'Rogue One' star Alan Tudyk recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, where he confirmed that the film doesn't use many special effects and allows actors to interact in the set.

"You are amazed at what you can look at, because it is a physical world," Tudyk revealed. "If there are creatures, then there are creatures; if there are spaceships, then there are spaceships. It's not huge swaths of green hung from the rafters. You have it all there, and if you don't have it there then you go fly some place that does."

The 'Firefly' star also spoke about his new web-series 'Con Man,' which is based on his experiences as a long-time convention regular. The show, which was originally conceived as a movie, stars Alan Tudyk as an actor who once starred in a short-lived TV series. Together with his former costar (Nathan Fillion), he attends sci-fi conventions and tries to seek fame.

Alan Tudyk admitted that it was the fans who attend the conventions that made the web-series possible.

"The sci-fi fans are a great audience, that is why Hollywood wants to capture them," he said, later adding that he and Fillion decided to distribute the show online because production companies were not interested.

"The only way that the production companies could see the world would insult fans because they didn't understand it," Tudyk said. "They would say 'Those convention nerds, they are so weird.'"

In the end, it wasn't just the fans who supported 'Con Man.' Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion also got help from other convention regulars like 'Supernatural' star Felicity Day, Tricia Helfer from 'Battlestar Galactica' and 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' alum Wil Wheaton. The series also features cameos from 'The Lord of The Rings' actor Sean Astin and 'Firefly' creator Joss Whedon.

'Con Man' is currently available on Vimeo while 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' will premiere on December 16, 2016.
