According to Vanity Fair, the name of Zooey Deschanel's baby was revealed by both proud parents during the New York City premiere of the latest film starring Emily Deschanel's sister ... and it's Elsie Otter!
Yes, Zooey Deschanel's baby has a middle name taken from a beloved sea mammal, and only a few days after the revelation, she gushed to Today about the reasons behind the name,
"We just really liked the name Elsie and then we both love otters - they're very sweet and they're also smart," said the star about her baby daughter's name. "They use tools ... they hold hands while they sleep, there's so many amazing things about otters. They're wonderful animals."
People Magazine reports that Zooey Deschanel's baby daughter was born in Austin, Texas, and it still took a few weeks from the day she was born until it was officially announced, as the baby girl came out of her mom's womb in July but it wasn't made public until August.
These days, Deschanel is taking maternal leave from her show "New Girl," with Megan Fox taking her place for the next few months; currently, she's promoting her latest film, Barry Levinson's "Rock the Kabash" co-starring the likes of Kate Hudson, Bruce Willis and Bill Murray.
