A man was reported to file some serious case against the US government after a pinecone fell on his head in the premise of a national park.
Sean Mace is the man who is behind this complaint against the US government and he is reported as a navy veteran according to Latinos Post. Mace's lawyer argues that a 16-pound pinecone did crush his client's skull and it happened at the Maritime Park at San Francisco's Maritime National Historical Park. For this lawsuit, Mace's camp is demanding the amount of $5 million for injuries caused by that pinecone incident.
What happened was that he was just sitting under a Bunya pine tree, which apparently was not even meant to be planted in that area according to the lawsuit, when the pinecone that is so heavy fell on his head resulting for him to be rushed to the nearest hospital.
The Chronicle noted that this particular tree's seedpods or cones can grow up to 16 inches in diameter and can weigh up to 40 pounds. Mace had to go on surgery for his injury and for the pressure on his brain to decrease. He was rushed to the San Francisco General Hospital and was also asked to go on a second surgery after 5 days since there was still pressure within his skull. Another lawyer stated that Mace will actually need to go under third surgery.
Mace is now filing charges against the National Park Service, specifically the Department of the Interior and San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park for causing him traumatic brain injury. The navy veteran's social life was also affected aside from his health, since that incident caused him to be afraid to go out anymore.
No result is out yet regarding if he has won the lawsuit, but he is hoping for changes to push through aside from his damages being paid.
