Most people have heard and read studies that being connected to your device is the true reason why people these days are disconnected from the world. Like the Zombie Apocalypse, people are walking around, looking down on their gadgets. It feels like they are living but very distant and disconnected from life. Currently, people are reading this article while browsing through their social network feeds. According to NewsOK.com, there are some ways to disconnect from your phone and start living real life.
To start with, wear a watch. Most people use this discreet reason to actually check if somebody sent them a message or if there are notifications. However, if they have a watch, they can get used to just looking at the watch instead of the phone.
Second, turn off notifications of your social media applications. Notifications pop up most of the time and it eats up our screen time and space as well.
Some may say they need to make sure that they can be alerted if someone send them an email or a very important message, two applications that are important is ok. However, if those are just photo comments or likes on a status, those things can wait.
Third, leave the phone alone. In an article written in Harvard Business Review titled "Just Hearing Your Phone Buzz Hurts Your Productivity", it shows that when the phone is being held, people are distracted and usually less productive. So put it away. Try to put it in silent mode as to be not distracting when at work. It's old school to call people, but this keeps the person from looking at the phone screen often and missing out on life. Choose to be present and without the distractions. Enjoy the time with friends, with family, with co-workers; instead of using phones be too much.
These are some habits that all people can do in order to stay connected and be productive with their life every day. Cellular phones will be okay even if they are inside the bag or on silent mode.
