Taron Egerton's Robin Hood has just found the perfect Maid Marian!
According to Deadline, Eve Hewson is currently in negotiations to take the female lead as Maid Marian in the highly anticipated 'Robin Hood: Origins.' Hewson has bested over 100 young actresses including Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who shouldn't be feeling so bad after landing another coveted role in 'Star Wars: Episode VIII.'
And there is a reason for the familiar surname. Eve Hewson is the daughter of U2 frontman Bono (real name: Paul Hewson). However, the Irish-born actress has made a point of stepping away from her father's shadow and is proving she is a force to reckon with in films like 'This Must be the Place,' 'Blood Ties' and 'Enough Said.' The 24-year-old has also appeared in the music video for The Script's 'For the First Time' and is currently starring in the Cinemax TV show 'The Knick.'
'Robin Hood: Origins' seems determined to hang on to its star Taron Egerton despite some difficulties earlier in October.
The film, which will be helmed by 'Peaky Blinders' director Otto Bathurst, was initially supposed to start filming in early 2016. However, 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' director Matthew Vaughn exercised his movie's right to Taron Egerton, who will return as Eggsy in the sequel, which will start shooting in April 2016. Rather than lose its star, 'Robin Hood: Origins' decided to give way to 'Kingsman 2' and has scheduled their shoot after Egerton is done with the sequel to his breakout film.
The screenplay for 'Robin Hood: Origins' will be written by Joby Harold, who has recently worked on the Guy Ritchie-helmed 'Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur' starring Charlie Hunnam. The reworking of Robin Hood's tale is expected to be similar Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight' and will start filming in late 2016.
