A woman in Manhattan, New York named Jennifer Connell is suing her 12-year-old nephew, Sean Tarala, for causing her arm injury as he hugged her.
Latinos Post wrote stating Connell is taking to court his young nephew who was only 8 years old when the incident happened, claiming he was negligent and careless for hugging her and causing her arm to get imjured.
She is asking for the amount of $127, 000 from her nephew. She stated her case in court recalling how it all happened. The child, accompanied by his father was all confused while in the courtroom. The hearing took place at Bridgeport, Connecticut on October 9.
Connell stated how the incident occurred during her nephew's birthday at that time when she arrived to celebrate with them. He was on a red bike during then and when he saw her, he dropped his bike and ran to his aunt screaming her name out loud.
She explained saying, "All of a sudden he was there in the air, I had to catch him and we tumbled onto the ground." She continued with, "I remember him shouting, 'Auntie Jen I love you,' and there he was flying at me."
Connell who is 54 years old claims that her broken arm has made her daily living really difficult. "I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up so it has been very difficult," she said. "And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan.
"I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d'oeuvre plate," she further argued.
After about 20 minutes, the juror made a decision and apparently, she is not getting any money from her complaint. According to law professor William Dunlap, in a case like this that involves children, the juries are asked to see children as children and not as responsible adults.
