King Kong Vs. Godzilla HAPPENING, Legendary Announces Epic Monster Franchise After ‘Godzilla’ 2014 Reboot

To paraphrase William Shakespeare, the new King Kong vs. Godzilla movie will see nations, both alike in love of monsters, uniting at last to bring two of the most iconic giant destruction machines in cinematic history, after King Kong has famously climbed every building in New York City and Godzilla destroyed each one in Tokyo.

The great monsters of cinema will finally come face to face in the new King Kong vs. Godzilla project, which had been rumored for the past month, after producing companies Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have announced that, following the massively successful reboot of the nuclear Pacific kaiju, it'll be meeting its American match on the big screen.

Through a statement posted on Legendary's website, the two companies announced that King Kong vs. Godzilla was a go after different news outlets had broke the first rumors a month ago.

As Deadline had first reported in early September, the upcoming King Kong vs. Godzilla film will unite the two traditional mythologies of these monsters in what's being advertised as a clash of titans between two of the most frightening creatures in cinema history; King Kong made its big screen debut in 1933, while Godzilla first came into the big screen on its native Japan back in 1954.

The King Kong vs. Godzilla universe will bring back not only these two iconic monsters but many others from older times as well as newer ones.

According to Engadget, the film antagonizing the two titans will come to theaters in 2020 as part of a larger universe; the next film in will be "Kong: Skull Island," due out in 2017 and starring Marvel Loki actor Tom Hiddleston, which will be followed by "Godzilla 2" in 2018 and then the all-raging meeting between the two monsters.

Without a doubt, the King Kong vs. Godzilla announcement marks a great time to be a fan of the monster genre!
