Former basketball player, Lamar Odom, was hospitalized on Tuesday, October 13, after he was reportedly found unresponsive in a Nevada brothel, the authorities confirmed.
Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly confirmed the incident on Tuesday evening. Reports say that the 35-year old former Los Angeles Lakers star player apparently went through a 'medical emergency' at the Love Ranch, a brothel situated in Crystal, Nevada, USA Today reported.
Adding to the Sheriff's report, Odom, who checked-in on Saturday, October 10, had been taking 'herbal Viagra', a drink that the brothel's owner Dennis Hof had also taken.
Though there have been no illegal drugs found in his room, Hof revealed that Odom 'was taking a lot' of the said herbal medicine.
"We called 911, and the 911 told my staff what to do: turn him over on his left side," Hof said in a statement. "There was this terrible foaming stuff coming out of him. He was throwing up, a little bit of blood."
Sheriff Wehrly also said that Odom was rushed to the Desert View Hospital before he was brought by an ambulance to the Sunrise Hospital located in Las Vegas, 60 miles away from the town of Pahrump.
According to the authorities, the plans had been all set to bring Odom to a Las Vegas hospital, however, he was too tall to have his body fit inside the helicopter.
Besides making a name in the world of sports, Odom also rose to popularity after marrying the reality TV star, Khloe Kardashian back in the year 2009. The two divorced after 4 years of marriage.
"It's a real shock," Hof said. "It's terrible that our business is being disrupted. Here's a guy who just wanted to have a good time and be private, and it's tragic."
Following the heartbreaking news, several NBA players went to Twitter to show their dismay about what happened.
