Fan would be ecstatic to know: your Gorillaz-less days are almost over.
Damon Albarn previously said that he along with his band will start working on a new Gorillaz album in September.
While some things that have come out of Damon Albarn's mouth (as reported by Consequence of Sound) doesn't hold much promise, this time he's actually sticking to it!
Jamie Hewlett - the man behind Gorillaz's iconic animations -- just confirmed to DIY that studio sessions for a new upcoming album is already in the works. In fact, he's "shutting [himself] away" to work on some new things for the band.
Talking about the new coming projects for Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett said:
"That's next year. I'm working on it at the moment, and it's going very well. I'm very excited. I don't want to say too much about it, but I'm at that phase of experimentation. What I try not to do when I'm working in this creative period, the cooking of the mess, is go to other peoples' exhibitions and look at other peoples' work. I close my eyes, and don't want to know what anyone else is doing. Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don't want to let that happen again."
This marks Gorillaz's first album since the 2010 record, "Plastic Beach." Of course, that's excluding the iPad-record LP "The Fall." Gorillaz's fifth album comes out in 2016.
More good news: Jamie Hewlett has also been teasing some new Gorillaz work on his Instagram page. Take a look at some photos below!
