From performing on the streets with his guitar, UK pop singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran has come a long way from being the image of a struggling artist. These days he has been filling up stadium after stadium and selling millions of copies of his songs.
But it is not only those things that Sheeran has been successful doing since getting signed, he also holds the record for being the artist with the most plays on a single song on Spotify. The Inquisitr reported that his song Thinking Out Loud now has over 500 million hits on Spotify.
In an analysis that Spotify revealed recently on their listening map tracking down the success of an artist's streams, Sheeran has been said to rule it with his hit single Thinking Out Loud. But it isn't just his song thats been gaining lots of streams, there are other songs of his that are now on millions when it comes to hits.
Sheeran may not have the number 1 artist streamed of all time, shout out to Eminem who still holds that title, but there is no doubt that he is getting there. Having half a billion streams is quite a milestone for any musician on earth.
The singer had something to say about the success he has gained and songwriters out there might want to take some notes. "Chuffed to hear that 'Thinking Out Loud' has had half a billion plays on Spotify," said the successful artist Ed Sheeran. "Being the first artist to hit that milestone is amazing. Thanks to all the people who use this as a wedding song, soundtrack to a date, and as a way to woo someone into a netflix-and-chill situation."
The song being romantic has contributed a lot to its popularity since it has been used in so many weddings, anniversaries, proposals and the like.
