It looks like the 'Ant-Man' sequel may have been good news to fans, but bad news for other Marvel films!
According to Bleeding Cool, Marvel Studios announced during the New York Comic Con that 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' will be bumped ahead of the company's first black solo lead 'Black Panther' and the first female lead 'Captain Marvel.' The sequel featuring Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne will be released on July 6, 2018, pushing the release of the two other Marvel flicks to February 16, 2018 and March 8, 2019, respectively.
But that's just mildly irritating news for T'Challa and Carol Danvers fans. The bad news comes with speculations that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has decided to drop the highly anticipated 'Inhumans' movie for good.
A source has claimed that the riff between Kevin Feige and Marvel CEO Isaac Perlmutter may have taken a bad turn and that the Marvel Studios president could be hitting back at the TV shows that still answer to Perlmutter. Since 'Inhumans' will serve as the movie conclusion for 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,' the decision to scrap the film in favor of an 'Ant-Man' sequel could be a direct hit at the Marvel CEO's projects.
But before 'Inhumans' fans start taking their pitchforks and rallying for vengeance, Birth Death Movies has reiterated that the rumor could be false since the best way to get back at Marvel TV would be to show that the movies are still superior to the shows.
"If anything, making an epic 'Inhumans' movie set in Attilan and featuring the royal family would only reinforce how small and cheap the TV shows are," they wrote. "If you wanted to hurt Marvel TV that's how you do it, by reminding everybody they live in your shadow."
It also helps that 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star Vin Diesel has sort of confirmed that he could play Inhumans leader Black Bolt in the film.
In the meantime, Marvel Studios has not commented on the cancellation rumors. 'Inhumans' is still set for release on July 12, 2019.
