What's not to love about Vin Diesel? The 'Chronicles of Riddick' star seems to enjoy teasing his fans with new details about his upcoming films, and his recent interview with io9 was no different when he revealed that the highly anticipated 'XXX' sequel has finally found its director.
"I'm excited as hell about 'XXX,'" Diesel said. "D.J. Caruso is directing it, which is exciting. The big question now is which will race to production first now that F. Gary Gray is on ['Furious 8']? Will XXX race to production first or will 'Fast' race to production first?"
The 'Last Witch Hunter' star will also be returning for 'Furious 8,' but he admitted that working on the 'XXX' sequel would be more enjoyable.
"'XXX' is one of those films you do when you need to have a little fun," he said, adding that his 'XXX' character Xander Cage is very different from Dom Torretto from 'Fast and Furious.'
"When the weight and pressures of all the other things have gone so far that you need to have a character that you can just have fun and more comment on life and comment on the outcome than being in it like Dom Torretto," Diesel said. "Dom is very much the center of the storm, Xander is more the guide to something else and you're just with him."
Although it hasn't been confirmed which film will start production next, Vin Diesel already seems to be eyeing a new Marvel project in the future. In a separate io9 interview, the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star confirmed he could appear in the flesh, but without his voice.
"We've heard a lot of talk about Marvel wanting to have me play a character that doesn't have my voice," Diesel said. "So my voice is used for Groot and my presence is used for the other character."
So which Marvel character doesn't talk that much? There are speculations that Vin Diesel could play Inhumans leader Black Bolt, who has to remain mute because he has a destructive hypersonic voice that causes huge shockwaves. Blackagar Boltagon is also expected to be the star of the upcoming 'Inhumans' movie.
So could Vin Diesel be talking about playing Black Bolt in the 'Inhumans' movie? Marvel Studios has yet to comment on any casting news.
