'Star Wars' Rumors: Did F. Gary Gray Turn Down The Boba Fett Movie? Could Michael B. Jordan Star In The Anthology Film?

Despite all the talks about the highly anticipated 'Star Wars Anthology' film about Han Solo's origin story, there are still whispers that a Boba Fett standalone movie will also be in the works.

So will there be a movie about everybody's favorite bounty hunter? If so, who could direct the Boba Fett original story and who could star in it?

According to Screen Crush, Jeff Sneider of The Wrap recently dropped some shockers on the Meet The Movie Press show. During the episode, Sneider revealed that director F. Gary Gray chose to work on 'Furious 8' instead of a movie for Lucasfilm.

"From what I heard, F. Gary Gray, after 'Compton,' was only considering two movies. One was 'Furious 8,' and the other required meetings in San Francisco," Sneider said. "That leaves literally two possibilities. The first possibility, which is what I was thinking that it was, was to possibly replace Josh Trank in the 'Boba Fett' movie."

Jeff Sneider also addressed the speculations that the Mandaalorian bounty hunter could be portrayed by a black actor.

"I do think that Boba Fett will be African-American, I don't know if they'll wind up getting a black director," he said. "I just remember hearing from somewhere, Michael B. Jordan rumors for Boba Fett, and I think F. Gary Gray [as the director] would make a lot of sense."

There is a reason behind Jeff Sneider's speculations, and it is more than just the opportunity to see Michael B. Jordan as one of the most popular 'Star Wars' characters.

"Disney has a huge diversity mandate and 'Star Wars' has been all white male directors so far?" Sneider said. "I'm telling you, they want some diversity."

Director Josh Trank, who had previously worked with Michael B. Jordan on 'Chronicle' and 'Fantastic Four,' was originally signed on to direct the Boba Fett film before he bowed out of the project. Lucasfilm had no comment on the Michael B. Jordan casting news.
