Pillsbury Recall: Cinnamon Rolls With Icing Reportedly Contain Plastic Pieces

General Mills announced a voluntary recall of some refrigerated Pillsbury cinnamon rolls with icing, because the dough may contain plastic pieces, according to the Christian Science Monitor

The recall was taken as a "precaution because the dough may contain fragments from a broken piece of plastic on the production line."

General Mills also noted their products are not sold in grocery stores nationally and no other Pillsbury dough products are being recalled. The products being recalled include 8-count single packages with better if used by dates of October 30, 2013 and October 31, 2013 and 2-packs with the dates October 18, 2013, October 26, 2013 and October 31, 2013.

According to Christian Science Monitor, the company is offering a free replacement to anyone returning a Pillsbury cinnamon rolls with icing package.  In July, Ken Powell told investors that General Mills continues to grow international sales.

"Just five years ago only a quarter of our total sales, including our share of joint ventures, came from markets outside the U.S.," said Powell, according to the Christian Science Monitor. "Today, it's more than one-third. Our global business portfolio gives us confidence that we can keep growing at an attractive rate."

The company said it expects net sales to grow at a low-single digit rate in 2014 to exceed $18 billion, with mid-single digit growth in segment operating profit and fiscal 2014 adjusted diluted earnings per share in a range of $2.87 to $2.90 per share.
